A solid/void cast of the Park Hotel, this work uses negative space to both document and defamiliarise the building. By casting only the spaces a detained person would have occupied, the hotel’s hospitality is “inverted” into detention. The fragmented form exposes a hidden counter-architecture, making visible the otherwise absent carceral infrastructure and transforming what is usually concealed into a tangible spatial experience.
